Brief Biography

Dr. Bloebaum graduated with her Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida. She spent several years as a graduate student at NASA Langley Research Center developing new Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) methods. Her present research focuses on novel methods for complex systems design, that integrate modeling, simulation, optimization and visualization. She served as the Executive Director of the New York State Center for Engineering Design and Industrial Innovation (NYSCEDII) at the University at Buffalo for five years and most recently has served as the Program Director of the Engineering Design and Innovation (EDI) program at the National Science Foundation (NSF). Dr. Bloebaum teaches courses in Multidisciplinary Design Optimization; Engineering and Heuristic Optimization; and the Design of Engineered Systems. She has supervised the doctoral research of 13 students and the master’s research of over 65 students. Dr. Bloebaum is the recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and the SUNY Research Foundation’s Award for Excellence in Research.
