The Space Systems and Controls Laboratory (SSCL) will be holding an "OPEN HOUSE" on October 24, 2009 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. This event will be held in 2362 Howe Hall. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
With the help of the lab, students are continually using their academic engineering experience and applying it to real-world applications, providing innovative solutions to today's technologically-advancing world. HABET (High Altitude Balloon Experiments in Technology), MAVRIC (Mars Analog Vehicle for Robotic Inspection and Construction), CySat (Cyclone Satellite), LABET (Low Altitude Balloon Experiments in Technology) and Rockoon (Rocket-Balloon) are the main projects worked on in the lab, and they will be on display.
A HABET launch will also take place at 12:00 PM. The launch will be held on the west side of Howe Hall in the parking lot. Their mission will be to obtain high quality still photos and videos of the flight. Flights typically last about 3 hours from launch to recovery. You are welcome to watch the launch and afterward, watch mission control track the payload as it enters the edge of space!
