This program pairs ISU alumni who have experience in the industry with upperclassmen who are preparing to start their careers in industry or academia. These alumni offer advice and guidance to aid upperclassmen in their professional growth drawing from personal experience both at ISU and on the job. Past alumni mentors have come from a variety of different companies including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Blue Origin, Rockwell Collins, Orbital ATK.
Mentees will meet one-on-one with their Industry mentor throughout the semester, depending on availability and interest. Each meeting will have a theme/topic, the suggested topics are:
- Resume / Cover Letter
- Building Towards Internship or Employment
- Industry Skills
- Life as A Full Time Engineer
- Workplace Experience
The topic of choice for the week should be coordinated between the Mentor/Mentee to allow for proper preparation. Meeting curricula are short and concise as it is designed to initialize the conversation and go wherever the Mentor or Mentee sees fit.
