Professional Skills

Interpersonal Communication Skills: professional skills equip one to carry out effective verbal communication with other people in a professional context. Such skills focus on both the content of the verbal communication along with how the communication takes place. Newly-hired engineers who work as a quality engineer may need to acquire such skills to effectively understand and talk to manufacturing and design engineers.

Professional Writing Skills: professional skills associated with writing professional documents such as technical reports, agreement letters, and contract documents. Two examples are writing engineering reports and the other learning how to draft nondisclosure agreements (NDAs).

Managerial Skills: professional skills that enhance the ability to manage and administer work at a personal level or a project/group level. Examples of management skills at personal levels are learning how to manage personal work time and priorities, whereas examples at project/group level include learning project management and learning how to evaluate raw material suppliers for the workgroup.
