MDO Test Suite (1996 – 2007)

Old MDO Test Suite

• The current Test Suite has a set of test problems classified according to number of variables and constraints (as described below). The new MDO Test Suite under development will have a much broader classification scheme that takes into account degree of coupling (sparse to dense) and nature of coupling (top-down, non-hierarchic, etc.) in addition to problem size.

• Below are links to the present set of test problems, categorized by the current classification scheme. New test problems and the new classification scheme will be online in Fall 2007.

Class 1-

  The class 1 problems are simple in nature with less number of design variables and constraints.

Class 2-

  The class 2 problems are more complex than class 1 with more number of design variables and constraints. They are simplified engineering problems.

Class 3-

  The class 3 problems have large number of design variables, constraints and are computationally expensive.
