Brief Biography

Ran Dai joined Aerospace Engineering Department at Iowa State University as Assistant Professor in 2012. She received her bachelor degree in automation science from Beihang University in 2002 and her master and Ph.D degrees in aerospace engineering from Auburn University in 2005 and 2007, respectively. After graduation, she joined a high technology automotive company, Dynamic Research, Inc., as an engineer conducting research and consulting in the areas of automotive accident reconstruction and prevention. In 2010, Dr. Dai accepted the position in Distributed Space Systems Laboratory at University of Washington as a postdoctoral fellow. There, she was involved in the energy management project with application to the next generation of Boeing 787 aircraft power systems. Dr. Dai’s research has focused on optimal control, energy management, orbital mechanics and networked dynamic systems. She is a professional member of AIAA and technical committee of Astrodynamics.
