General Registration Information – AERE Undergraduates

When you receive your first email reminder about registration

Your registration start date and time, “Upcoming Registration Appointment,” can be found in Workday

  • Click on “Academics,” then “Upcoming Registration Appointments.” Registration appointments are determined by the Office of the Registrar; advisors have no power or authority to change them.
  • You DO NOT have an appointment with your advisor at this “Registration Appointment” time. This is only the date/time that you are able to begin class registration in Workday.

Please take care of any holds on your account (accounts receivables, immunization, probation, etc.) prior to your registration start date.

  • You can find your holds on the “Action Items and Holds” page in Workday. These holds can block registration.
  • All students will have a Student Onboarding Hold. To remove this hold, you must complete the Workday Onboarding in your Workday My Tasks.
  • Students on Academic Warning or Academic Probation will have an Academic Probation Hold and/or an Advising: General/Registration Hold. To resolve these holds, you must meet with your academic advisor. You can schedule your appointment through the Navigate Student platform.
  • Students who are NOT on Academic Warning or Academic Probation may still have an Advising: General/Registration Hold on their account. These holds were added to all College of Engineering students; however, the Department of Aerospace Engineering is removing these holds for our students who are not on Academic Warning or Academic Probation. Unfortunately, this is a manual process, but advisors will do their best to expedite. You do not need to reach out to your advisor to resolve this hold.
  • Unfortunately, your academic advisor is unable to resolve non-academic holds, such as accounts receivables or immunization. Only the office listed with the hold can resolve the hold. Your academic advisor is not able to enroll you in classes with a hold on your account.

Prerequisite Policy: “Aerospace Engineering department strictly enforces prerequisites and failing to follow all necessary prerequisites will result in the student being administratively dropped from the course or receiving a failing grade in the course if they re-register for the course after being administratively dropped.”

You are more than welcome to schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to ask questions or to verify that you are on the right track.

  • While you can schedule your meeting at that time, please do not plan to meet with your advisor sooner than one week before your registration start date. This allows your academic advisor to equally spread out their appointment times (i.e., they can help seniors and juniors who will register before sophomores and freshmen).
  • Please schedule your appointment through the Navigate Student platform. Step-by-step instructions: https://go.iastate.edu/QXYZPY

Please reach out to your assigned Academic Advisor if you have any questions!
